The Bronzed Glow

I am by no measure a makeup expert or even close. Over the years, I have figured out a few things that work for me and make me look put together and sometimes even pretty! ha ha.
Summer in India is ruthless and unforgiving! There is no way you can wear a full face of makeup and make it last for more than an hour! Here, are some of the products which I have found work in the makeup-melting heat and sort of stay longer than the usual 2 hour mark.

Clockwise from bottom: MAC Hush cream color base, YSL Touche Éclat in 03, Bobbi Brown eyeshadow in Mahogany, MAC Face and Body foundation in C4, Chanel Rouge Coco Shine lipstick in Liberté, Guerlain Terracotta 4 Seasons bronzing Powder in 01, Revlon Custom Eyes palette in Naturally Glamorous(discontinued) and Nars Deep Throat blush

The Base: My base of choice is the MAC Face and Body in C4. There is so much said about this beauty, but no one can appreciate its strength as much as someone who battles 45 degrees centigrades on a daily basis! This one just does not budge from my face! Its a very light textured foundation, almost watery, does not cover much but can be layered, and gives a very dewy look to the skin and which is far from shiny. I apply it with my fingers and that I think is the quickest way around with foundations!
This is followed by a few swipes of the YSL Touche Éclat in 03 on the high points of the face and I am happy with what I see in the mirror!

The Cheeks: A very very expensive and impulsive splurge this one – The Guerlain Terracotta 4 Seasons Bronzing Powder (what a mouthful)! But price aside, this is “Amazing-cheekbones-in-a-compact” stuff, see thisI love this stuff to bits! its matte with just a hint of sheen and no shimmer in sight. My only worry is that I may not be able to justify a repurchase after this gets over! Let me know if you guys know of a more affordable alternative. In the above picture, I am wearing it on the edges of my face, temples, under the cheekbones and sides of the neck.

On top of my cheeks I have the famous (Or infamous?) Nars Deep Throat blush. Its peachy-pink, with more peach tones. It’s a little light for my complexion as its not very pigmented. Its one of the more widely loved blushes from Nars as opposed to the shimmer-fest Nars Orgasm
For highlight, I love MAC’s cream color base in hush. I don’t see too many people mention it, but its one of those unsung heroes which in my opinion does not get enough love. Its the best non-shimmer beautiful rose-gold highlight color which blends beautifully into the skin and just leaves you with a glow. Some days I only wear this alone on my cheeks with some brown liner smudged around my eyes and done!

The Eyes: The Revlon custom eyes palette was a recent re-discovery for me. I had completely forgotten about this gem with all the new makeup flooding my drawers! What a beaute this is! especially the three brown-ish colors. I love wearing them alone with a matte medium brown eyeshadow like Bobbi Brown Taupe in the crease and it looks beautiful! I guess it has a lot to do with the brush you use.My brush of choice for any look or eyeshadow is the MAC 217.

For eyeliner (not shown above) MAC does a very good brown liner called Coffee which is what I reach for on most days.

The Lips: Chanel Liberté was my first Chanel purchase, and it’s well loved! Its a very natural peach color,an effortless and “slap-on-n-go” kind.

Oh I have the Guerlain Four seasons too, its so beautiful. Don’t worry about the price and running out, I’ve had mine for a few years already, with intensive use in spring, summer and autumn (cant be bothered in winter) and it still looks brand new and not dented at all!

he he! Mine is a couple of years old too now! I think that one has to be the best I have used.. although the Clarins bronzer is my daily go to now! :-)

hi Divya :) greetings from Indonesia!
I rarely go for this bronzed look, but when I do, I use neutral-toned colors on my face. As I’m naturally (slightly) tan I tend to use browns a lot. My favorite base of all-time is Revlon Photoready stuffs, I normally mix their primer & foundation. I don’t own bronzers, I usually use a brown blush (my current pick is Revlon Powder Blush, the shade is called Sandalwood Beige) and a little amount of mauve blush on my cheek (I use Wet n Wild Color Icon Blush, the shade is called Mellow Wine – doesn’t look mauve enough in the pan, but it turns out mauve on my face :) ). I’ve been eyeing NARS blushes too, I used my sister’s Orgasm but didn’t like it, and she suggested me to opt for Deep Throat or Super Orgasm instead.
    happy blogging! :)

Thank you so much for your comment! I would suggest Nars Torrid to you in case you don’t like shimmer! Deep Throat is much less pigmented. Torrid is the same peachy pink blush but much more beautiful than the others!

Hey Divya, great job! I always thought it’s bad enough in Taiwan, but it never gets to 45 degrees there!!! The look works really well with your skin tone! I keep thinking I need one of those Guerlain 4 seasons bronzers, but how many bronzers do I really need? 😉

Thanks Sunny! I know I have hoarded enough bronzers for a lifetime!:P But this one from Guerlain beats them all! I wonder which is that thing which this brand does badly!?
