My addiction for lipsticks, if not already, will soon be out there! The one category of makeup I don’t mind indulging in and can ridiculously justify to myself, is lipstick! I am pretty sure there are a lot of you who’d be nodding right now, and if my daily bloglovin’ feed is any indication, lipsticks are a favorite around the world!

So, here is for all the lipstick lovers, my two cents on the best color + effect + feel lipstick in recent times! We are talking about the YSL Rouge Volupté Shine beauties.

As all things YSL these are housed in a stunning tube, similar to the original Rouge Volupté’s with a beautiful band in the center, indicative of the color inside. These are weighty tubes but for the sake of luxury I ignore it!

The actual lipstick as described by YSL have dazzling color, extreme comfort and luminous finish. Hyaluronic acid microspheres help seal in moisture for 8 hours of hydration. Anti-oxidants and emollients help condition and soften lips. This is the most pigmented, glossy and hydrating formula that I have ever worn. The feel of this is very similar to the Lipstick Queen Saint lipstick, with much more pigmentation. These are pretty much swipe and go lipsticks, and the shape of the bullet makes it very easy to apply like a balm and done!

The staying power of this is actually pretty decent, and even after the shine fades away, I have a beautiful stain on the lips which keeps it from looking blank. With, hyaluronic acid in it, its very moisturising on my perpetually dry lips, in any weather.

I got my first tube of this in 2012, when they were just released and my pick was #9, a beautiful nude for my complexion. Later, it was joined by two more colors during a YSL sale last year, #5 a bright fuchsia and #16 a bright coral.  Together with the Lipstick Queen Saint in Eden, I have three pigmented, juicy lipsticks in all four colors that I will ever need, Nude, Pink, Coral and Red.

These are expensive at $35, and nearly Rs 2300 in India, so I am refraining from extolling these too much. If you are not new to luxury lipsticks, and have been a YSL fan, you are going to love this! YSL have been my firm favorite for years and I own quite a few lipsticks from the Rouge Pur Couture range as well and have never been disappointed.

From Left to Right: #5 Fuchsia in Excess, #16 Orange Impertinent, #9, Nude in Private

This time I am really pleased with how the swatches came on camera, as its true to the original color.

For the time of the year, #5 and #16 are the ones I am most looking forward to wearing, and in fact, #16 is coming with me to Spain, which, paired with Tarte’s Tipsy blush, is going to make me one happy coral lady!

In other news, I am still undecided about what makeup to carry for the trip, as

A) Its going to be hot and humid, which to me means no makeup!

B) I will be shopping, so will anyways have stuff to use

But then, a makeup addict like me, needs her most important makeup items at hand, so I am going to be carrying a few essentials phew! More on that coming shortly!

Have you tried these lipsticks? Which shades do you have? I am eyeing the #12 in the range, which is a beautiful coral-red but not sure if I need it! enable me! The pinks in the range are also very pretty so check those out if you will! 🙂

Have a great week ahead folks, we are already half way through! 🙂
