I have been going on and on about the so called “wardrobe cull” on the blog for a week now and before you think its all imaginary here is the first installment! I I am a very simple person when it comes to outfits and styling, and fashion isn’t something I have been able to keep pace with. I am classic in my approach to clothing and believe in having a few statement, timeless pieces in the wardrobe and construct looks around them. This way I can identify items I will be using, and going back to again and again.
Now, of course I cannot put my shamefully large pile of neglected clothes on display here, but what I have thought of, is creating a series of posts which are centered around the items in my wardrobe which I deem “statement”, “investment”, “classic” and share with you how I style it for day, night, weekend etc. and just throw some ideas out there, know your thoughts and have a discussion.
I am no fashionista and a very regular person, so no high end ridiculously priced bags and shoes in these parts. If there is one thing I am surprisingly sensible at is the purchase of clothes and accessories, and almost never have an impulse buy. Most of the stuff I have had for a long period of time, and that just goes on to say that somethings do last you a long time, beating trends and fashion.
Excuse the freshly washed, un-ironed crippled T-shirt but the fact is I love it like that, the worn-in look! Its shabby to most people but I usually throw a large scarf or jacket on top so would it matter? (yeah I need lessons!) As obvious, the star of this post is this Zara clutch which I got a couple of years back and has served me pretty well. Its still good as new and the most vibrant, well made clutch in my possession! For day time, I pair it with jeans, a t-shirt, white sandals and tiny earrings. a brown leather boy friend watch in my opinion adds the extra “cool” to the look. Very boyish, very me.
This skinny jeans is a staple and “One-of-a-kind” in my wardrobe. I bought it on full price, but have had so much wear out of it that its been worth the expense. The white sandals are very Grecian in style and look great with a little ankle show. Needless to say, each piece here is super comfortable and very well loved!

If I were to go out in the evening, I wouldn’t change much except wear a more well-cut top or blouse, a more classic watch and may be throw in a statement earrings for effect. To an otherwise black and boring outfit, the bag adds a pop of color(s) and I LIKE! I could swap the sandals with a classic black pump and make it more “grown up”.
The black top here is a little dressy, and looks super chic with skinny jeans, I think. its a little long at the back with quarter sleeves, and hangs gracefully on my frame. I have worn the life out of these black sandals and they are my all time favorite! I have been planning on getting a new pair, but nothing I have found which justifies replacing this!

I reserve dresses for the weekend as weekdays I am office bound and prefer pants and jeans to skirts and dresses. This royal blue dress (which comes off too dark in the pictures, damn lighting!) is a favorite. Just the right cut and fit and flattering as hell! I love the gold sandals with the dress, I think it looks gorgeous. I would generally skip any kind of jewelry, although the earring in the picture pairs beautifully hmmm?

For me a watch is the most important and stylish accessory to any outfit and I would NOT be found without one. I can skip earrings, necklaces, bracelets but never my rings and a watch! Thats just me 🙂
This definitely has a very “Summer” theme going on, but even for cold, grey winters I think I could make it work? You can expect more fall appropriate pieces making an appearance soon.
I’d like to know what you think of the post? Which is your favorite pairing? Let me know.
Thanks so much for reading as always 🙂
