My love affair with Chanel marks its first anniversary this week! I vividly remember the first time I splurged mega bucks on Chanel. Came home with a lighter wallet and the prettiest chic-est bag of goodies! The famous black on white with a bold C-H-A-N-E-L, grabbing eye-balls as it went past. Oh the feeling! Its been a Chanel-tastic year for me. Also explains my scanty bank balance.
Doesn’t it all start with a harmless looking lipstick? Rouge Coco Shine in Liberté did it for me. Followed VERY soon by another Limited Edition number Pygamillion and a couple of lip glosses. This when I don’t even wear lip glosses and have had a history of either throwing away or giving away almost all that I have bought! I have Nakkar, a pretty peachy pink with golden shimmer (limited edition) and Mystery a beige milky nude very flattering and pigmented.
Around December last year, all panic buttons for the wedding had been pressed and I was running around the town like a headless chicken! This included buying tonnes of makeup all in the name of the wedding! I bought my first Chanel nail color Elixir, which incidently I wore for my wedding and it matched perfectly with my Saree and other makeup! I also bought a Rouge Allure lipstick in Pirate, (in fact I bought a few more red lipsticks “for the wedding” and finally wore a pink!) and the cream blush in Destiny, which by now is legendary!
Pirate is creamy and has almost no detectable shimmer so works perfectly for me. Its a blue-red which theoretically doesn’t suit olive skin, but to hell with that! I love it on myself!
The Chanel Poudre Signée Illuminating Powder which is my most prized and most loved possession to date was a lucky buy! They somehow still had a few pieces left and after a lot of deliberation I finally bought one. Little did I know I was getting a STUNNER!
Also with the powder I bought the Chanel Illusion D’Ombre in Ebloui which Alix had raved about a few months ago. I have had a huge girl crush on her for years and she just has to name it and ill drop everything and run to get it! Ebloui is a beautiful murky brown burgundy which is beautifully complex and very pretty on the eyes. Works well for all eye colors, my only gripe is it needs to be built a lot, especially for my skin tone. I wear it on top of a primer because it creases a lot.. as well. Its not a fail though, the effort is worth it because it looks incredible!
Twist up eye pencils and I have never gotten along. Be it MAC or Chanel I have been sorely disappointed always. I have two from Chanel, Espresso which lacks pigmentation and Khaki Preceiux which is much better but still lacking. wouldn’t recommend these at all!
I have read mixed thoughts on Chanel nail polishes, and while some people absolutely love them, some think otherwise. I agree not all Chanel nail polishes were made the same but thankfully they allow you to swatch them and then purchase which makes things easier! I have three now, the latest addition being Frenzy and Rose Cache and I adore them! Neither chip with a top coat and last really long, do not need a base coat, do not stain my nails and look sophisticated. What more do you want?
This summer I got the Le Blanc De Chanel illuminating base, Chanel Les Beiges Multi Color Powder No. 02, Chanel Presage Cream Blush, Chanel Illusion D’Ombre in Mirage and last week the original Chanel Les Beiges Healthy Glow Powder in No. 20. I have a review of the powder all written up and ready to go very soon!
I love Mirage, wear it nearly everytime I step out! The pigmentation and staying power of this is better than Ebloui and it looks very polished without too much shimmer. I think it could be the one with the least chunky shimmer among all the other Illusion D’Ombre eye shadows.
It was very easy to pick my favorites! I am ruthless.
