I have sensitive skin which in common parlance means “rubbish” at trying out different products. If I get adventurous and try to go all out with my routine I am sure to irritate the hell out of it. Besides, finding products which are effective without being too strong is a pain at another level. Right now I have (sort of) found a few which fit the bill and so far so good!
I have a (rather tiny) shelf above my wash basin which has just about enough room for the absolute essentials. I have to be careful not to crowd and load it so picking the products to house there can be quite tricky. Ever since I streamlined my routine this space does not get to see much action except for the rare event of a new product joining the corps. I don’t necessarily use all of these all the time, Its more like a few permutations and combinations on different days.
I have two in use right now, Bioderma Sensibio Micelle Water and a gigantic bottle of Shu Uemura Cleansing Oil (in the balancing formula for all skin types). I don’t have a separate eye makeup remover in rotation as either of these removers (or in combination) work nicely enough.
Again.. two, the Oskia Renaissance Cleansing Gel as the more nourishing, luxurious second step cleanse (if I was wearing makeup) or as a normal cleanser on no makeup days. I also have a tube of the Fresh Soy Face Cleanser which is a staple product for my sensitive epidermis. I use this when my skin has flared up or is not in the mood to be disturbed much.
I have the Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Concentrate taking center stage every night as the only product I would slap on post cleanse, but recently I opened a new bottle of the REN Radiance Perfection Serum which I have been using on and off. This is a Vitamin C based serum which I had my eyes on for a while and finally got hold of during the Black Friday Sales. Expect deets on this soon.
Clarins UV Plus HP spf 40 sunscreen is pretty good at what it does (i.e. sun protection) but the price does not justify the usability. I think ill go back to either Neutrogena or La Roche Posay versions very soon.
There is a new moisturiser in my stash (and.. has put everything else out of loop!) Avene Rich Compensating Creme. Irrespective of how rich and greasy this may sound its is everything but. Its thick but completely non-oily and gets absorbed really well. This is going to make a re-appearance soon.
Avene Thermal Spring Water continues to be one for the toning step pre serum and post cleansing. For a once a week masque I have my faithful Aesop Parsley Seed Masque which my skin continues to love through every season.
Whats on your skincare shelf right now?
