This what you see is actually everything just dumped on the table to be pictured; it rolled, turned and set itself in a way I couldn’t have done as neatly if I had planned. One of those days! I thought I’d literally just empty my rather stuffed makeup bag and chat about the contents.. really just that.
Although not a Virgo but I was born to one so order organization and OCD come naturally to me (all in a good sense, no offence Virgos!). I carry a lot of stuff around just-in-case, and also keep going through it every weekend to replace or replenish whatever needs to be. Its a lot of fun to me and a lot of “a useless chore” to my husband.
I got this set from Supergoop on an irresistable bargain and have since been using everything from it on a daily basis. It seemed like a good place to get acquainted with the brand which until recently I hadn’t even heard of! In fact, I really like three out of the four different products from the set and the two in my bag are the Sunscreen Day Cream and Mint Lip Balm. The Day Cream is a matte moisturiser with SPF 40 which is slightly less hydrating than I would like it to be (besides the fact that I am not a big fan of moisturiser with SPF anyway) but works well for days when I have had to commit myself to a full back seat makeup routine! The mint lip balm is surprisingly really good at moisturising besides it comes with an SPF 30 protection which I have never found in my lip balms. The tube reminds me of Kiehl’s lip balms, a similar gel-like consistency, very moisturising with a pleasant mint sensation which I love! It stays put and I usually wear it under another lip product so the two together keep my lips looking good!
I also have a tiny sample jar of the Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Moisturiser gel which has been emptied because (I hated it!) it was too drying for my skin. I have decanted some of my current moisturiser into it; Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Cream intense hydration. This on the other hand works perfectly for me, packs a lot of hydration and zero grease. The original version I have always found to be a bit “much” for my moody complexion which sometimes dries up like paper and other times oils up like a nut in the sun. The intense hydration version can handle both with ease!
I also carry a bottle of Clarins Instant eye makeup remover which I have used a lot in the past and recently got hold of a few travel sized bottles specifically to carry around with me. Yes I am crazy like that. Although its pretty good at what it says and removes the most stubborn of eyeliners. The only peeve with this is that it leaves an oily film which needs to be wiped/washed away. No stinging though.. that is always a good thing!
I have started to carry this dinky bottle of Frizzy Logic Serum from Original and Mineral and you would not believe how good it is! The first time I used it I had extremely confused emotions because something had finally out performed my hero product, Kerastase’s Elixir Ultime.. and it really happened! This tiny thing here is crazy good! I’ll have a long endless ode written and posted soon.. till then grab this if you ever spot one!
I clearly carry makeup in plenty! One can never have enough things in one’s makeup bag to help with an after-work eventuality right? I have a few different lipstick-things, a well loved classic blush, an old, very pretty, right-up-my-street eye-shadow, an eyeliner I am trying to use up, some brushes etc. etc.
Nars Tzigane (discontinued but I have two more.. yeah!) is my favorite forever and the best nude/mlbb lipstick I have ever had the luck to find. Read my review here. I also have a sample sized Laura Mercier’s Lip gloss in Blush which is basically Tzigane in lip gloss form. Now if you know me you know that I do not touch lip glosses with the pinky finger but this one here is a touch different. Its creamy, not too glossy, and can be made to look more like a sheer lipstick/lip balm. It is also moisturising which is not something I find easy to associate with the lip gloss family!
I also have my special occasion lipstick, YSL’s Glossy Stain in #7 Corail Aquatique. Oh Gosh! I don’t think I have ever raved about this before but there was a time when I would ONLY wear this every where.. every time! This is the best peachy pink color for my complexion/lips/liking which reminds me, I totally need a back-up! It pairs beautifully with my Nars Deep Throat blush that I lug around currently for the mirror (which also doubles as a highlighter thanks to the fine shimmer in it).
Its pretty unusual for me to carry a whole eyeshadow everywhere, with brushes et al. Times have changed, I eat lot of spinach, drink gallons of water and I am an eye shadow wearer now, YEP! This one here is one from Benefit from a couple of years back when I was on a Benefit-kick and bought a LOT of stuff from them. This one was the deepest truest bronze they did at that time called Dandy Brandy and its GORGEOUS. Not sure if any of you would have this (or one of its re-packaged avatars) but these eye shadows are pretty good! I have another one called Where There’s Smoke and its a grey-green-taupe. I obviously like Dandy Brandy more being bronze, brown and neutral! Chanel’s eyeliner (crazy long french name omitted) in Espresso is a twist up pencil not very great formula wise but anything that does not require sharpening works well on the go!
Tools, I have a Tarte eyeshadow brush (discontinued) which is excellent in packing-blending any color on the lids, a big fluffy blending brush and an angled blush brush from a local drugstore in Korea. I also have a nail file from Tweezerman and a mini slant tweezer a.k.a the next cutest thing to internet kittens!
In other stories, I haven’t bought a new bag/pouch etc in almost a year now. There was a time I just had to have a bag in every color, especially bucket bags and satchels. I think I am going to save up and wait for a really good bag purchase, now that I have held off for so long! So fellow bag lovers you tell me which shoulder/tote/messenger/bucket/makeup bag you would recommend? I feel like I have lost touch with the “bag-world” .. no clue whats “in”.. my fashion sense was never very good anyway! All help is welcome!
