As it always happens, another month and another rummage through the stash happened. Classic beauty hoarder problems: you shall not
pass buy more makeup until you have used what you have! I for one have been trying my best to finish off things and although major progress has been made I haven’t really completely used up a single makeup product! Ugh! I try.. I really do, but there are never enough days in the month when I fancy a full face of makeup. Oxymoron?
Whining aside, I actually have 6 different lipstick/lip products that are down to their 1/3rd mark which by my standards is spectacular progress! (And, they are not lip balms) I have been trying my best to use up the Dior Nude BB Creme and everytime that I wish under my breathe for that last pump it always seems to be left with more than that last pump! Don’t get me wrong, I love this, its probably my favorite makeup base of all times but its kind of old and I don’t want this particular tube lying around much longer now!
Somehow with a BIG bright sun on the horizon I always think of Benefit’s Sun Beam. I used it a lot last summer then shelved it and now its back! I know a lot of people rave about Benefit’s Watt’s Up highlighter (Note To Self : Swatch it next time), but I have found my thang the bronze-y glorious Sunbeam and I do not feel the need to stray. I am actually quite wary of highlighting and anything with shimmer and the sorts; but this one here is gorgeous and a few dots placed carefully over the peaks of the face just makes it GLOW.. and glow only! No discernible shimmer or obvious “highlight” just the I-rolled-out-of-a-bed-on-the-beach glow.
The thing which has made my spring/april makeup SO great is theBalm’s Frat Boy Blush! I have had it since the beginning of time and the pigment was so much that the chicken in me refused to touch it! Now that I am armed with a whole legion of brushes, I attempted wearing it again and guess what.. its a new favorite! Peachy-pink perfection, this is matte but not flat (as they say and its true!) and popped on the cheek it does not turn pink like most peach blushes do on my skintone!
How did I not wear it all this time is beyond my comprehension but I promise I am going to make a dent in this by the end of this summer! Some very lovely readers suggested I wear it topped on a bronzer, so being the sincere advise seeker that I am I decided to put my Hourglass Radiant Light Powder into action and this mixed with that is perfection! Add to this concoction some Sunbeam and there you have it.. the quintessential spring cheek!
Do you sense my excitement?? I don’t think I have ever been so happy with a makeup edit before! This whole bundle you see here just works like a dream and does not make me look “made up” against my wishes and I am totally in my comfort zone! I also wanted to give a special mention to my “new” MAC quad, which is technically just my old MAC quad which I just recharged/refreshed with more spring appropriate colors! I have MAC’s Texture eyeshadow in there now, an almost orange-brown satin color which if one uses lightly is brilliant at covering blues on the lids. I wear a lot of whites mixed with bright colors in spring-summer so Texture offsets my eyes nicely. I love wearing it with MAC’s All That Glitter’s eyeshadow and the two together.. uhh beautiful!
I also have MAC’s Tempting dwelling in the quad now which I use to blend in Nars Via Veneto (jet black eyeliner) on the lashline; its a routine I picked up from Kelly, and like her pictures it looks gorgeous on top of that black kohl! Tempting is a Lustre finish eyeshadow and has considerable sparkle and almost-glitter finish. Luckily, there is very little fall-out and the color is quite pigmented and true to pan which allows a lot more use. I recently depot-ted a few of my MAC eyeshadows so I could use them more often (not sure if that logic works). The last color in the quad is Mulch which is my basic go-to bronze nothing to write odes about. I now have Patina and Arena also panned so I can play around and reshuffle my MAC quad and duo a lot more!
For lips, like I said I have plenty of lip options almost at their end so I am trying to finish them up. I am back in love with my Clinique Chubby Stick, Curviest Caramel. Its very creamy and I am always worried I’ll find it all melted and gooey one of these days, but its holding up! Its a tad light for my tanned skin right now but with the rest of the makeup on I can carry it off (or so I think!). Love this formula I wish they made more nudes, some more browns and mauves would absolutely set me for life right? As soon as Clinique release a new set of makeup they get raves upon raves and then everything fizzles out! The products are 99% on point and so good and fragrance/nasty chemicals free but the world always wants more doesn’t it? The Chanel’s and Dior’s always steal its thunder!
Thats about everything I had to say about this makeup edit! For those of you who like me love to watch and follow beauty channels and live for Sephora hauls, I have for you my new found youtube love and STUNNING Allana, whom I discovered this last week while whining in bed suffering from flu! She is super sweet and ENVIOUSLY gorgeous and makes really funny beauty tutorials and videos! She’s a Canadian and reminds me so much Estée in her style and general cheeriness! I think you’ll like her too!
Let me know what you’re loving for Spring!
