Happy Sunday to you! Apologies again for disappearing and I don’t even have a good excuse for the absence this time. Actually I do, I have the weather to blame! Its been cloudy here and given the short window of time I have in the mornings, I couldn’t take pictures or even so much as look at my camera. This weekend I decided I had to make do with whatever little light I get and take pictures. Rest assured you’ll have plenty to look forward to in the coming weeks!
This week was otherwise pretty exciting for more reasons than one. I met my lovely friend Chaitra and had the best three hours of chatting, laughter and catching up I’ve had in a while! As some of you might know, Chaitra is a designer and blogger and has been a part of the blogging community for over a year and a half. She recently turned designer and has an amazing line of work. I am so happy to see where she has come already with her business. I’d highly recommend checking her work out.
Back in April I placed a Sephora order (just before the VIB sale *ouch*) and begged Chaitra to bring it down when she came. She being a sweetheart did exactly what friends do and got me my loot! I am super excited to finally be united with my Hourglass powders in full size which I only had in the palette so far and was cautiously rationing things. Its a whole new beauty scene back here at my pad and I can be found singing Hourglass praises to whoever might fancy a listen! Part of my order was Dim Light and Radiant Light Ambient Lighting Powders and Radiant Magenta Blush. I already had Diffused Heat and love it, so I knew it was only time before I picked a few more! Radiant Magenta was an obvious choice because A) Its pink B) It has “Radiant Light” in it, my favorite powder of all times!
Part of the Sephora purchase were a few deluxe samples both of which are something I’ve used a few years ago and loved. Especially the Clinique Moistue Surge Intense, which I just realised is so so good on my slightly dry slightly dehydrated skin! The cost of Clinique products always seems to be on an upward hill which puts me off every time I attempt a purchase, but I think I am going to get a full size of just this one again once I am through my current open tubs and tubes. Its a really good hydrator with no fragrance and extremely soothing without a touch of grease. I have always preferred the intense version as it is still gel based but more hydrating than the other variant which would suit an oilier skin type.
Before this cheeky Sephora order, I found myself browsing makeup at Estee Lauder on a weekend when their Pure Color Envy Sculpting Lipstick in Intense Nude caught my fancy. Now these lipsticks have been around for a year and I have seen them in action and swatches on countless blogs, but the fact that I have 938579357 lipsticks in the same color sort of put the purchase on hold for so long. This time though I caved and happily so! Its creamy without being “melty” and opaque without being matte. A really amazing formula indeed, and like I said the color is very me very pretty brown-nude with hints of everything else thrown in. Its a slightly dark nude on my complexion and what I do is dab it on the lips and smudge for a very “lived in” stain effect. I wish my “peach fuzz” wasn’t so dark and obvious or else I’d show you how this looks on me. Probably another time.
I am currently on a “Use Up/Throw Away” spree of sorts. I have been so overwhelmed with my growing stash of beauty products lately that I couldn’t help but just feel stupid about buying so many things in such a short span. I have 1 face (like most of us!) and theres only so much skincare I can apply before it back fires! The aim is to use up whatever is in rotation/half way/open, before anything new comes up. My situation with makeup is better controlled as I can exercise more restraint there, but skincare is where the madness is at! I have just been buying skincare products like crazy the past few months (thanks to all the gift cards and sale) and now its all jammed in my drawers with no time to use. Anyway, whats done is done and hopefully the plan will bring me some much needed relief.
I am having serious concealer problems at the moment, where every concealer that I own is too yellow/orange on me! I went to MAC the other day to get a better match but apparently what I have already is what I am matched to. Now I don’t believe that, and I am determined to find my jam elsewhere. Pavithra’s post on concealer tells me there is hope (check it out if you haven’t already!). While the Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer in Ginger is a good match but its not something thats easily available in India, so finding a match elsewhere is more wallet friendly at the least. Let me know if you have recommendations.
Its obvious that this post was all about “purchases” and “shopping” and “hauls” but there are times when the “highlights” of my week involve therapy in the form of shopping. Such is life.
Let me know what you’ve been upto this week.
