I am no perpetual traveler but ask me to pack for a trip and watch me roll! I love the idea of picking out outfits for a trip and sorting through my stash for the perfect products to carry.. a.k.a my idea of fun! So this time to add to my little private party I challenged myself to fit everything I need (+extra) in this tiny MAC bag! When I say everything I mean everything, skin/makeup/bath the LOT!
[ Its almost time for us to head out for a tiny vacation! *squeals*. Since February life’s been all about working and working out and I have not stopped to breathe! Parents in town is always a good opportunity to take a chill-pill and let loose! So heading out on Friday we’ll be off for our two day trip to nearby Kerala and I am SO looking forward to it! ]
The bag is now full to its limits with NO room to spare! This tells me it’ll get me through the weekend. An over packed makeup bag always does!
Notwithstanding the fact that I’ll probably be jaunting around in track pants and near-shredded-but-still-wearable T shirts, I have packed makeup. No woman trekked a mountain without lipstick on! (Said this lady here). The YSL Glossy Stain in #7 is my staple holiday lip food. The color, pigmentation, wear time and moisture all packed in one pretty bottle. Just pick and go! Sadly it was made for pouts only so I popped in my RMS Beauty Lip2Cheek in Modest. Now only if it doesn’t melt to goo in the hot Kerala Sun. Fingers crossed.
I can probably survive a weekend (and beyond) without eyeshadows but something tells me I am going to need some color on my peepers for a Saturday dinner! Foresight. I am taking away this tube of KIKO’s Longlasting Eye Shadow Stick in 06 a bronze-gold-shimmer (duh!). No primer or army of brushes required. Just pat and blend. pat and blend. Thats the running theme here!
Time for my truth. The stuff I’ll really be needing is le famed YSL’s Touche Eclat under my eyes and around the nose, a brown eyeliner smudged on the lashlines and some tinted lipbalm. At a stretch. Risking it again, I have a tiny tube of Fresh’s Sugar Lip Balm in Petal, which melts into goo at the slightest rise in temperature. I know big mistake.. but that color! oh that color!
Brows and eyelashes will have to wait till I return.
As a seasoned sample hoarder its not a struggle to find tiny bottles and sachets of nearly everything one can want for skin/hair/body in my stash.. sometimes in multiples.. more choices! I have been surprisingly succinct with packing skincare as I have skipped on any fancy serum/oil or some such and just packed a good heavy duty moisturiser. Clinique’s Moisture Surge Intense Hydrator has to be among my favorite moisturisers so a little pot of that and I am a happy girl! It’s gel based so doesn’t make me uncomfortable outdoors and I can slap it on and forget.
A new SPF I have been trying out from Kiehl’s, Ultra Light Daily UV Defense * comes along for how tiny the tube is! It being a great SPF option only makes it more lovable! To add “fancy” to the bunch I have a little pot of SK-II’s Facial Treatment Gentle Cleansing Cream. This hasn’t wowed me as much as we’d expect from anything which has “SK-II” written on the tin! Its a dinky little pot and should suffice for a morning cleanse. Thats where the wow ends.
For a good cleanse I always have a tiny bottle Shu Uemura Cleansing Oil by my side and it never fails me. It really is everything I need to get a squeaky clean face after a day in the sun/sand/road/whatever.
Since my hair is going to sit on top of my head the entire time, there is no point in carrying an elaborate hair wardrobe! In fact I just have a shampoo and conditioner sample tucked away and that has to do. (I am probably going to regret not packing a hair serum/leave-in type thing but we’ll just go with this!)
Add to this bunch a nearly finished hand cream, a tiny bottle of body lotion and I am set. (Oh and the toothbrush!)
I have a feeling this’ll be a very pleasant (and strangely light) Hand-Luggage-Only trip.
