My weekday makeup is at an all time minimum right now and I could not be happier with the amount of time I save and how much I don’t care about looking perfect everyday! Multi tasking products galore, as few brushes as possible and more skin showing that covered has been, to put it in one word, liberating!
For my base I have been using the Estee Lauder Revitalizing Supreme CC Cream. I am very happy with this stuff. Admittedly, it was an impulse buy because I had no idea what I was getting into. I love a bit of color changing magic and when the Sales Assistant told me that this comes out grey and then adapts to the color of one’s skin, (which it does on mine brilliantly), and I was sold! Almost a golden-bronze hue, this looks SO good I swear! Doesn’t cover much which I am okay with right now, although a dab of concealer on horrendous redness/blemishes/circles and I think it’ll make anyone happy.
I bought mine at Sephora India, but I haven’t seen it on the Sephora US or the Estee Lauder US website. I think its a Europe and Asia exclusive product.
Because this CC Cream packs mega GLOW and is incredibly hydrating I usually skip moisturiser and just wear it on its own. It keeps my face hydrated and glowy for hours and on sunny days I can always mix sunscreen with it and wear. I have dry skin so I never powder over it and in about a few minutes this settles into a matte-to-touch finish while my skin is healthy, glowy and hydrated.
I prefer matte barely there blushes for a typical work-day and nothing comes close to being as perfect for the occasion as Tarte Exposed. I always touch a bit of blush on the bridge of my nose to tie it all together with the color on the cheeks, and to make it look natural and flushed rather than “she is wearing blush”. That there is my little not-really-a-secret secret!
I am back to using Anastasia’s Brow Whiz on the brows. And this time its in the color Ebony which is darker, less brown and more natural on me than Dark Brunette which I was using earlier. Only when I got Ebony for myself that I realised how wrong DB was for me and just how good this thing is! A wrong color can make the same product look so off I tell you.
I largely go no-makeup-makeup on the eyes everyday. Only tightlining the upper waterline with a jet black eyeliner from Burberry and not a speck of eyeliner on the eyelids or a fleck of mascara on the lashes. This is because I HATE removing eye makeup, besides, I have enough lashes to keep my eyes from looking dead and I can get away with nothing! On days I feel I have an extra hot minute, I swipe a bit of shimmery light bronze, such as Chanel’s Mirage illusion d’Ombre with Zoeva’s 221 Crease brush or, a gold color from the Viseart Paris Nudes palette with a MAC 217 brush.
And then there is always my beloved Almond eyeshadow from Burberry. A swipe of that on both the upper eyelid and lower lashline and I look – only to myself – straight off the Burberry runway!
My Lips But Better
My lips have been having a hard time over the last month or so. Something has made them super sensitive and I can no longer wear any of my lipsticks without causing a boil or two to pop up on the lip line overnight! My “knight in shining armor” has been the Smith’s Minted Rose lipbalm which is my Discovery of the year y’all! This is hands down the best lip balm I have EVER used and yes its way better than Nuxe’s Reve de miel. I have no qualms admitting that. You wouldn’t expect much from such a thin formula but it is unbelievably hydrating and heals my lips overnight, sans the gloop. It is such a pleasure to use and makes my lips look smooth and pretty much new!
Lipstick wise, I opened a new tube of my beloved Nars Tzigane lipstick (now discontinued). There is a reason why I have a backup of a backup (hint: read my post on it). Won’t last me forever but I can work with what I have. *sob*
I have also been madly in love with Nars Rikugien Satin lip pencil, the perfect MLBB with an added oomph! I had this little set of Nars’ Cruella and Rikugien but had never given Rikugien much of a go before. When I ran out of lipstick options recently, I dug it out, slapped it on and its been my go-to ever since! If you are my skintone and struggle with work-makeup, get this lipstick. Its perfect!
